My Experience
As an intern, here's what I got out of this summer…
What I Liked
harambee, allat
opportunities to swap in submarkets
other interns are cool
leadership structure is fair
What I would change
Earlier project access
More structured workload & clearer expectations
Adjusted compensation rate
Fix the internet!
What I learned
Understanding leadership structure
Team dynamics in practice
Engineering documentation processes
Realistic timelines, constraints, and collaboration efforts
Plan Moving forward
Research structural engineering roles
Research aviation/transportation engineering roles
Stay connected with Jacobs family
Return to Jacobs and learn about industries outside of Life & Sciences

How I got here
My path to Jacobs
I had a fairly smooth route to this internship here. I've known about Jacobs for 3 years, and have known their reputation, their skill level, expertise, and almost instantly became super intruiged by what they do. At a NSBE fall regional conference, I came in contact with an engineer named Sherlock Banks, who pointed me in the direction of the CM/engineering route. Afterwards, I had an interview with a recruiter, and another interview with Pat, and now I'm here! I also got the chance to connect with more Jacobs crew at the NSBE Annual Convention in Baltimore, MD which was very refreshing!
